Playoff-Bound Teams Must Stop Wasting Trick Plays in Regular Season
In Week 16 of the NFL last week, two playoff-bound teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs, unnecessarily unleashed incredible trick plays that went for touchdowns in the penultimate week of the regular season instead of saving them for the most important time of the year, the playoffs.
On the last Monday Night Football game of the 2016 regular season, the Cowboys led the Detroit Lions at home 35-21, but the margin between the two teams seemed a lot bigger than the scoreboard indicated. Early in the the four quarter with the Cowboys driving and 19 yards away from the end zone, they ran this play with Dez Bryant:
